OUR PHILOSOPHY

A Philosophy Built for the Gap Between Rooted and Ready.

Buying a plant online often comes with descriptions like “well rooted,” “healthy,” or “established.” But these terms can mean different things from one seller to another. Having roots doesn't always tell you how prepared a plant is for transition.

JCastillo Studio was created to make that gap easier to understand.

THE IDEA BEHIND
READINESS LEVELS

A clearer way to understand plant readiness.

Readiness Levels provide a consistent framework for describing where a plant is in its biological development and how prepared it is for transition.

The framework considers factors such as root establishment, water regulation, environmental tolerance, and growth consistency—not simply age, size, or appearance.

Readiness Levels aren't a ranking system. Each level represents a different stage of development and a different growing experience. The goal is to give buyers enough context to choose a plant that fits their expectations, experience, and comfort level.

OUR MISSION

Bridging the gap between buying and growing.

Our mission is to help plant collectors and hobbyists make more informed decisions when buying plants online.

Through transparent communication, thoughtful growing practices, the Readiness Level framework, and practical care guidance, we aim to give buyers a clearer understanding of what they're purchasing and a more confident starting point once their plant arrives.

OUR VISION

Raising the standard of trust in online plant buying.

We envision a plant hobby where buyers don't have to rely on vague descriptions or marketing language to understand a plant's condition.

Instead, clear communication about a plant's biological state and readiness for transition can become a more meaningful part of the buying experience.
